Monroeville was the first new Primanti ground-up restaurant.
The architectural detail was borrowed from the Primanti’s original location the Strip District warehouse produce railroad platform.
With the infusion of financing and new ownership, Primanti's did intensive soul searching to identify itself in the competitive edge. The architecture and layout went back to its basic roots -- the industrial rust belt, worn red brick, steel loading dock canopies with exposed nuts and bolt fasteners, aged wood and concrete.
Through the expansion process Primanti’s wanted to gain a competitive edge to please its cult following and remain classic. The key was not to over value engineer with the loss of detail, per the typical watered down chain restaurants that have lost their uniqueness. The Wheeling WV Primanti Bros. was the result and the first Gen-X prototype ground-up project.
Open air patio an added feature with fire pit and overhead glass doors, for the ability to operate all seasons of the year.
Custom made dual station 24 beer taps made from schedule 40 steel pipe.

Exposed flat top grill cook line creating interaction with the guest per the renowned original location.
Solicited the ability to historically renovate the restaurant and storefront, and construct a sidewalk café canopy in n a city public right of way.
Managed submissions and received the required approvals from the: Historic Review Commission, Arts Commission, Urban Redevelopment Authority and the Dept. of Public Works.
Although the Diamond Market was not an historic restoration, it required approval from the Historic Review Commission because of its location in a historic district. The architecture style of Art Modern was accepted. The project also received funding from the URA storefront program and a Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership grant.
The sidewalk café constructed in a public right of way required approvals from the HRC, Pittsburgh Arts Commission and the Dept. of Public Works.
Diamond Market a new concept restaurant tradition American themed all from scratch fresh. Second floor was a renovation perfected layout of Las Velas Mexican restaurant.
The original gas-station, four walls, and office canopy were preserved and used for restaurant. The new canopy encompasses the entire area, where gasoline was pumped for the cars.
The canopy architectural detail was derived from the original office canopy.
